1. How our E-Learning Works

Using the same approach Dr. Frimpong (see instructor background) has followed over the last 10 years to deliver online instructions for a number of Universities in the US, students with access to the Internet, will have visibility to his desktop.

Online instruction is not as scary as it sounds if you have an experienced instructor guiding you through. To prove this, there will be a 10 min demo before you decide to sign up for the class. Students with access to the Internet, will have visibility to the instructor's desktop and share his screen as the virtual classroom board. Students will be able to verbally communicate and exchange information with the live instructor at no additional phone cost. Students have the option to record all scheduled sessions, as well as capture demonstrations for future reference.

2. Why SAP BW/BI (Business Intelligence)?

If you hop on Google today and perform a search on SAP SKILLS SHORTAGE, you get thousands of hits; and with these articles you need no further convincing on this subject. It is all about Job security! It is for this same reason that thousands of individuals with SAP skills earn the various types of work visas to enter the United States. A recruiter once asked me, " ... why is it that I hardly find US citizens with SAP skills?..."

But why SAP BW/BI and not any of the other SAP modules such SD, MM, PP, CRM, etc?

Course: SAP BI 7.0 Functional Online training.

Discussion and implementation of a small real-life project (Scenario 1) to give an overall sense of the entire course. This will give you a picture of a BI Developer on a project, highlighting the tasks of most functional BI consultants. After this demonstration, we delve into the syllabus below, pointing out the underlying intricacies of the BI project we just implemented (Scenario 1).

5. Course Requirements:

From my personal experience, I would recommend this course for individuals with at least a college degree or several years of work experience.

No, you do NOT need programming knowledge!

The key from my point of view is your commitment; I have seen candidates without any college degrees successfully completing the program.
Please note that we have an interview process, which may disqualify individuals who we believe may find the program a little bit more challenging.

Remember, you can join this class from any part of the world as long as you have access to the Internet.

One-month-long Program/ 2 Sessions per Week (4 Hours/Session);
but depending on your pace, this may be stretched over the 2 months since students need to complete practical projects from session to session.

7. Instructor’s Biography

The instructor, Yaw Frimpong, Ph. D., is an IT consultant with over 20 years of industry experience, 10 years of which, he concurrently taught as an adjunct professor for a number of Universities in the US. His most recent IT experience is in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with emphasis on SAP Business Intelligence Solutions (BI/BW). Datawarehouse experience includes: Data modeling, Extraction, Transformation and Loading of Data (ETL), Performance tuning, etc.
His prior IT experience was in Networking and as such, he has a strong technical background (operating systems, Firewalls, LANs/WANs, etc); he is a Microsoft and Novell Certified Instructor and Engineer. He also became a member of the HTCIA (High Technology Crime Investigation Association).

Over the last several years, as a consultant, Dr. Frimpong has worked on projects in companies such as Schering Plough, Merck, Jersey City B.O.E., Scholastic Institute, United National Bank, Accenture, Johnson and Johnson, American Standard, etc.

He once noted “ … I like teaching because it helps sharpen my theoretical skills. You see, often we get bogged down with the day to day routine practice and do not think of the theory behind the practice… then soon, it becomes challenging to think theoretical … but think of it, if you have to go for an interview today, theories such as the options related to the various "Slowly Changing Dimensions" alone can put a seasoned consultant to shame …”

Using the same approach that he has followed over the last 10 years to deliver online instructions for a number of Universities in the US, students with access to the Internet, will have visibility to his desktop and share his screen as the virtual classroom board. Students will be able to verbally communicate and exchange information with him at no additional phone cost. Students have the option to record all scheduled sessions, as well as capture demonstrations for future reference.

He has in the past, maintained a traditional Computer Training facility but he is now doing the same by saving students the facility cost in this virtual environment. Student will now be able to join him online, in small classes, with access to the state of the art ERP systems (SAP BI 7.0 connected to SAP ECC6/R3 with installed IDES data) for less than one-half of the cost of what training used to be before this virtual setup.

He approaches problem solving through "use cases" i.e. scenario-based lectures. For example, instead of just showing students how to design Datastore objects and Cubes, he presents real life scenarios in corporate environments and takes students through the entire project life cycle. On completion, students get the opportunity to replicate exactly what he demonstrates to ensure that students not only understand the underlining theory but also know how to gather functional requirements from business users and implement them on BI systems.

Education: MS in Business Administration (Boston University, Boston/MA); Ph D. in Information Systems (Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale/FL).
